Tourism, China, JiLin

Jilin is a province with extremely rich tourism resources. It boasts exotic scenery along the Sino-Russian and Sino-North Korean borders, the majestic Changbai Mountain forests and snowfields, lush grasslands, and fairytale-like ice and snow worlds. Moreover, each city has many iconic scenic spots, such as Changbai Mountain in Baishan, Liuding Mountain in Dunhua, the Goguryeo Royal City in Ji'an, and Chagan Lake in Songyuan, all of which are nationally renowned scenic spots. Changchun, as the provincial capital, is even more densely packed with scenic spots. Jingyuetan, Changying Century City, World Sculpture Park, and the Puppet Emperor's Palace are all national AAAAA-level tourist attractions and must-see attractions when visiting Changchun.

Puppet Manchukuo Palace

The Puppet Emperor's Palace in Changchun is one of the best-preserved palace sites in my country, serving as historical evidence of Japan's invasion of Northeast China, the creation of the puppet state of Manchukuo, and its colonial rule. The complexity of the Puppet Emperor's Palace's historical background and the multifaceted nature of its cultural connotations determine its uniqueness, as well as the scarcity, global reach, and exclusivity of its cultural resources.

The Museum of the Puppet Manchukuo Palace currently houses 50 original displays of the Puppet Manchukuo Palace, including the Jixi Building, Qinmin Building, and Tongde Hall; 2 large-scale permanent exhibitions; 3 special exhibitions; 33 temporary exhibitions; 17 domestic touring exhibitions; and 11 overseas exhibitions. It also boasts a large collection of artifacts from the Puppet Manchukuo Palace, modern and contemporary Japanese artifacts, modern and contemporary Northeast Chinese artifacts, folk artifacts, and representative modern and contemporary calligraphy, paintings, sculptures, and works by intangible cultural heritage inheritors.

The Puppet Emperor's Palace houses and displays a large collection of artifacts from the Puppet Emperor's Palace, modern Japanese artifacts, modern Northeast Chinese artifacts, folk artifacts, and representative modern paintings, calligraphy, sculptures, and works by intangible cultural heritage inheritors. These include Puyi's diary, the Puppet Emperor's decrees, carpets used in the Jingren Palace, calligraphy and paintings by renowned Japanese artists, and ceramics from famous Japanese kilns such as Kuko, Nabeshima, and Satsuma. As the saying goes, "Learn from history to understand the future," history is the best teacher, and visiting the Puppet Emperor's Palace helps us understand that backwardness leads to being bullied.

Jingyuetan

In winter, Jingyuetan is covered in a blanket of white snow. Against a backdrop of pure white snow and azure skies, snow sculptures, snowmen, and snow slides abound. At Jingyuetan Snow World, a single color can showcase a myriad of charms. Jingyuetan Snow World is a large-scale, interactive snow sculpture park developed as a key winter attraction by the Changchun Jingyuetan National Scenic Area. With snow as its primary element and beauty as its guiding principle, it has been a beautiful highlight of Changchun's winter tourism for many years.

Jingyuetan is a paradise for skiing enthusiasts. Besides regular ski resorts, it boasts a world-renowned cross-country skiing trail: the Cross-Country Skiing Base, located to the right of the Vasa Museum at Jingyuetan. This is a professional cross-country skiing course certified by the International Ski Federation (FIS). It's said that my country's top cross-country skiers train here at least twice a year, and the country considers it a training base for cultivating outstanding cross-country skiing talent. Visitors may even encounter world champion-level athletes.

Changchun Sculpture Park
Changchun is known as the Sculpture Capital of the World, with its sculpture culture renowned worldwide. It is understood that Changchun City began constructing grand and distinctive urban sculptures in 1996. Over the past two decades, Changchun has hosted more than twenty international sculpture exhibitions and convened five World Sculpture Congresses, generating a wide and profound impact both domestically and internationally. Furthermore, the World Sculpture Park is a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction.

Changchun's World Sculpture Park officially opened to the public in 2003. It is a park characterized by the integration of natural landscapes and cultural attractions. This large-scale modern sculpture art theme park, themed "Friendship, Peace, and Spring" and based on the concept of integrating Eastern and Western cultural arts, features numerous urban sculptures and, in winter, a large number of themed ice sculptures. It is one of the must-see attractions when visiting Changchun.

Changying Former Site Museum
Changchun is known as the automobile city, sculpture city, aerospace city, and also the film city. The Changchun Film Studio, located here, is the cradle of Chinese cinema and the first film studio established in New China, achieving seven firsts in the history of Chinese film. It has produced over 900 feature films and dubbed over 1,000 films from various countries. A large number of outstanding works, such as *Five Golden Flowers*, *Shangganling*, *Heroes and Daughters*, *Liu Sanjie*, *The White-Haired Girl*, *Dong Cunrui*, and *Middle Age*, have influenced the growth of generations.

The Changchun Film Studio Museum is the former site of the Changchun Film Studio. Its main office building was the headquarters of the "Manchuria Film Association Co., Ltd." (Man'ei for short), a film institution established by Japanese imperialism during its invasion of China and its promotion of colonial culture. Completed in November 1939, it was designed in the style of the German Ufa Film Studio, covering an area of 160,000 square meters. It had six 600-square-meter sound stages and four recording studios, and at the time was hailed as the largest film studio in the Far East. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, with the assistance of Soviet experts, Changchun Film Studio built its seventh sound stage, covering more than 1,200 square meters. During the planned economy era, it was the largest sound stage in China and one of the largest in Asia. The Changchun Film Studio Site Museum is an art palace showcasing and recording the origins, development, prosperity, and changes of the Changchun Film Studio. The entire museum covers an area of 46,137 square meters and presents multiple themes such as film art, film props, film special effects, film craftsmanship, and film production through artifact preservation, art exhibitions, and interactive film screenings. It is also a must-see attraction when visiting Changchun.

Other attractions

As summer arrives and cities swelter, if you're looking to escape the heat, I recommend a less-known but absolutely worthwhile destination—Changbai Mountain. Actually, it's not just Changbai Mountain; the entire city of Baishan offers both coolness and beautiful scenery. Since you're already there, why not stay a few days and explore the nearby attractions? I especially recommend the Millennium Cliff City Scenic Area.

The scenic area is located on the Yalu River, the border between China and North Korea, in Changbai Korean Autonomous County, Baishan City. Surrounded by mountains and with green waters by its side, its natural scenery is unparalleled. The scenic area features structures such as the Great Wall, mountain barriers, and fortresses. The city perfectly recreates the bustling cityscape of the Balhae Kingdom during the Tang Dynasty, and also includes 12 restored century-old Korean houses. The roads paved with bluestone bricks are spacious and grand, while the houses with white walls and brown tiles are simple and elegant. Every corner perfectly combines the aesthetics of the Tang Dynasty with the local customs.

This place boasts a thousand-year-old history and culture, unique Korean ethnic customs and centuries-old villages, and outdoor entertainment projects that drive young people crazy—a cliff-themed amusement park.

The cliffside roller coaster and the high-altitude glass walkway give you the thrill of feeling the rolling Yalu River below and reaching out to touch the sky; venture into a natural karst cave for a treasure hunt, listening to historical stories while solving mysteries, creating a fully immersive experience; you can also sit on a swing on the cliff and swing towards the sky, or wade in the water and catch fish by the waterfall—if you like playing in the water, don't miss it.

The ancient city of Yacheng is not just a name; historically, during the Bohai period of the Tang Dynasty, Yacheng was an important town in Jianmen Prefecture, the western capital of the Bohai Kingdom, and a key town on the Northeast Silk Road (tribute route). Two stones in the ancient city that appear to be inscribed plaques are the best witnesses to this history.

Whether viewed from afar or within the ancient city, Jinghu Pagoda is undoubtedly the most eye-catching. It is the sister pagoda to the thousand-year-old Lingguang Pagoda. Standing tall and elegant at nearly 40 meters, it exudes Tang Dynasty charm. Paired with the white-walled, brown-tiled houses at its base, the pagoda possesses a rich ancient atmosphere, making it a perfect backdrop for photos.

Not far from Jinghu Pagoda are Qifu Cliff and Yacheng Ancient Market. The ancient market originated from the legend of the fairy market during the Tang Bohai Kingdom period. There was once a touching story of Master Chansong healing the sick and saving people. Today, it has become a good place for people to taste local specialties and enjoy leisure and entertainment. As night falls, the enchanting lights reveal a completely different side of the ancient cliff city. The Jinghu Pagoda changes colors with the changing lights, its graceful form reflected in the lake, a truly beautiful sight.
Everywhere you look, the city of Yacheng is ablaze with light and color, its magnificent lights seeming to enhance the grandeur of the Tang Dynasty. The ancient buildings have become opulent, the streets and alleys adorned with a dreamlike beauty, and every detail exudes the aesthetic impact of the Tang Dynasty.

Under the deep night sky, the ancient city is bathed in golden light. The pavilions and towers are beautiful and flamboyant in the lamplight. Wearing flowing Tang Dynasty attire, you can appear both elegant and serene in front of the camera; every shot exudes an ancient charm that transcends the screen.
Here lies a rich and long history, the deep green Yalu River, and forests stretching for miles. This summer, encounter a cool summer and come to Yacheng for a "millennial rendezvous".
