Legend has it that Zhang Daoling, the Celestial Master of the Eastern Han Dynasty, once refined elixirs here. When the elixir was completed, a strange phenomenon of dragons and tigers coiled together appeared, which established its sacred status as the birthplace of Taoism in China. Huangling

Renowned as one of China's most beautiful villages, Huangling is nestled against Shier Mountain, surrounded by thousands of ancient trees and thousands of acres of terraced fields. It is also the birthplace of the autumn drying culture, and the autumn drying landscape changes with the seasons, with different colors and styles in each season.

Centered around Wunv, the legendary embodiment of wisdom who transformed into the constellation Nu, this Hui-style resort town combines nature and culture. I believe I'm qualified to talk about Jiangxi because I've been there three times. Let me give you a brief overview; I hope it will be helpful.

I believe I'm qualified to talk about Jiangxi because I've been there three times. Let me give you a general ... The first time was with family, a local tour group recommended by an acquaintance. It was indeed very cheap, but once we arrived in Jiangxi, the itinerary was too rushed and tiring. We didn't even get to see most of the key attractions, and they added several shopping stops. It felt like we were being resold to a Jiangxi travel agency; the quality wasn't guaranteed at all, and it wasn't fun. Even though it was recommended by an acquaintance, I still wouldn't recommend booking a local tour. The second time was with a few classmates on our own. We had to plan our hotels, tickets, itinerary, and transportation in advance. It was too time-consuming and expensive, and we were easily ripped off. We couldn't get tickets for some attractions and had to wander around the surrounding areas. Also, most attractions in Jiangxi require reservations, and even then, you might not get one. Queuing, finding directions, it was all very troublesome and wasted a lot of time and money. If you're traveling on your own, be sure to prepare everything in advance, otherwise it will be very troublesome. The third time, which was earlier this year, was the most satisfying and cost-effective trip. We booked our own flights and contacted Qiqi, a highly-regarded local travel agent specializing in independent travel, in advance. She arranged the entire 5-day itinerary for us, so we didn't have to worry about anything. It was also very cost-effective. The 5-day trip only cost around 1000 yuan, including 4 nights in luxury hotels (Qiqi thoughtfully arranged hotels near Lushan and Huangling in Wuyuan, with views right from the windows; I checked and found that 4-star hotels within a 10-kilometer radius of Wuyuan were all starting at 800 yuan per night, which was too expensive to book ourselves), as well as entrance fees to all attractions in Lushan, Sanqingshan, Wangxiangu, Huizhou Ancient City, and Huangling Scenic Area, and all transportation, meals, insurance, etc. Moreover, Qiqi provided 24-hour concierge service, which was truly thoughtful. I highly recommend her (the entire trip was free of extra fees, hidden fees, and shopping stops; we had a fantastic time).

Must-Visit Attractions in Jiangxi

Tengwang Pavilion: Step into the Tengwang Pavilion from textbooks. Climb the pavilion during the day for panoramic views, and enjoy the evening lights.

Lushan Mountain: Climb to the summit of Lushan Mountain, a place straight out of ancient books. Rolling clouds cascade over the undulating mountains like a waterfall.

Poyang Lake: Migratory birds flock here. Though relatively unknown, it attracts countless bird lovers.

Jingdezhen Porcelain Capital: Jingdezhen porcelain is a national geographical indication product.

Huangling in Wuyuan: Known as "Ladder Cloud Village." The terraced fields of Huangling are lush and green, perfect for taking amazing photos.

Sanqingshan Scenic Area: Abundant granite formations and breathtaking climate.

Friendly reminder: Unlike other tourist cities, scenic spots in Jiangxi, such as Wangxian Valley, Sanqing Mountain, Lushan Mountain, Poyang Lake, and Huangling in Wuyuan, are quite far apart. Traveling independently or by car without proper route planning can be very tiring. About our itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive in Nanchang in the morning. Qiqi will arrange pick-up from the station (available 24 hours a day). Check into the hotel.

Since Qiqi arranged our accommodation in the city center, it was very convenient to visit Tengwang Pavilion, Jiangxi Provincial Museum, Wanshou Palace, and the August 1st Uprising Memorial Hall in the afternoon.

——About Food and Accommodation——

Although the accommodation environment in Jiangxi's scenic areas is generally not as good as in big cities, the hotels arranged by Qiqi are very satisfactory. Last time I went with a very particular friend, she also thought it was great. The view was right outside the window, showing that the hotel quality is quite good!

However, it should be noted that due to the large number of tourists in Jiangxi, you must book your hotel in the scenic area in advance with Qiqi, otherwise you may not be able to find a good hotel!

Jiangxi's cuisine needs no introduction. Dishes include stinky tofu, Qingming cakes, perilla snails, gray sesame cakes, steamed pork with rice flour, Lushan stone chicken and stone ear fungus, Yunwu tea-scented duck, Jingdezhen cold noodles, dumplings, fish head stewed with fish, beef bone noodles… and so on.
