The Forbidden City, also known as the Palace Museum, is located in the heart of Beijing. It was the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911) and was home to 24 emperors. The entire complex is magnificent and resplendent, considered one of the world's five great palaces (along with the Palace of Versailles, Buckingham Palace, the White House, and the Kremlin), and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
